April Favourites: The Best of Cruelty-Free Beauty

April was full of amazing cruelty-free as well as vegan discoveries. As some of you know from my Instagram stories, I transitioned to a fully-vegan diet at the beginning of April for both health reasons and for our planet’s animals. The journey has been incredible. This month I discovered amazing cruelty-free brands. These include Marimer, Pit Putty, Emma’s So Naturals and Noughty Haircare. I discovered brand new products from Wet N’ Wild, Essence, Murad and The Konjac Sponge Company.

Here are the absolute stand-out I was sent to try in April, including the prices and information about where you can purchase them!

Noughty Haircare Rise and Shine Shampoo

This award-winning brand from the UK offers a generous selection of different haircare products to suit your deepest haircare desires. I have fallen in love with the brand’s Rise and Shine shampoo, which helps to transform normal and lifeless hair into a mane of bouncy, shiny and healthy-looking hair. The refreshing rosemary and mint scent tingles the scalp while Jojoba and blue mallow deeply moisturise your locks. White tea naturally protects the hair against environmental damage due to its high content of antioxidants, helping to lock in long-lasting shine.

The ‘Rise and Shine’ range is a multi-award-winning product that is certified by The Vegan Society. Priced at €7.95, the company generously offers 10% off your first order with them at their website. Alternatively, if you are based in the UK, Noughty Haircare is available in Superdrug pharmacies. If you are based in the US, the range is available at Ulta Beauty.

The Konjac Sponge Company Angel Cloth

This incredible, award-winning, Leaping Bunny certified and 100% vegan brand recently made me their Irish brand ambassador. As the world’s number one Korean Konjac brand, I had used their products for months, and I was hooked since day on of use. In April, their Angel Cloth became a staple favourite in my beauty regime! The cloth- shaped like an angel until hydrated- is made of 100% pure Konjac, derived from the Konnyakuplant in Korea. This plant has been used for centuries for its medicinal, dieting and beauty properties.

The Angel Cloth is more like a muslin-style cloth than a sponge, and it offers a variety of benefits with each use:

  • Gently but effectively exfoliates, even around the eye area. Suitable for hypersensitive skin, eczema and rosacea-prone skin
  • Removes water-based makeup, or any makeup with a little additional cleanser
  • Bursting with vitamins and minerals, the cloth improves the skin’s tone, texture and overall appearance with continued use

The Angel Cloth retails for €14.75, but as The Konjac Sponge Company’s brand ambassador, I am happy to share with you a 10% discount! Just type in the code: FLAWLESS&PAWLESS

Pit Putty Lemongrass and TeaTree Natural Deodorant

Known as the most effective natural deodorant on the market today, Pit Putty is 100% vegan and handmade in Ireland. I’ve fallen in love with their Lemongrass and TeaTree deodorant due to its antibacterial properties and uplifting, lemony scent. The formula is so dreamy, and I don’t remember the last time my armpits were truly sweaty since I started using this product. As a bonus, the range is free from aluminium oxide and parabens, which are found in most deodorants on the market.

Marimer Nasal Hygeine Spray

Not your typical beauty product to involve in a beauty regime, but one that you should definitely consider including. This French product is used and loved by the likes of Síle Seoige, and is now regularly used by me! The spray is naturally high in mineral salts, which help to ease symptoms of colds, hayfever, allergies and medical conditions such as sinusitis and rhinitis. This product is so refreshing to use and is suitable for all ages, including babies!

Wet N’ Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder Precious Petals

I’m always on the prowl for the perfect highlighter, and I think I may have found it! Recently winning an Image Beauty Award, this highlighting powder is the number one highlighting powder by Wet N’ Wild. The silky-smooth formula leaves an ultra-pearly, rose-gold finish on the skin that is suitable for use on the cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow, chin, decolletage area and even to add a little shimmer to your legs and shoulders. I’ve even used it to give me boobies a subtle glow!

Murad City Defence Broad Spectrum SPF 50

This revolutionary product is the first of its kind and has been recently raved about by the likes of Jennifer Rock (a.k.a. The Skin Nerd). Dr. Murad is a true innovator and investigated into the newly-discovered danger that is blue light from technological devices; this type of light has the power to damage and destroy the DNA in your skin. Murad has cleverly created this product that promises to both protect you indoors, as well as outdoors, and tackles the following contributors towards ageing:

  • Blue light from technological devices (phones, computers, tablets etc)
  • Environmental pollution
  • Infrared radiation
  • UVA/UVB rays

The formula absorbs quickly into the skin and leave a luminous and even-toned finish due to its subtle peach tone. Vitamin C helps to brighten and tighten the skin, while the fragrance-free promise allows this product to be suitable for sensitive skin.

Murad City Defence Broad Spectrum SPF50, €54.20, available in selected Irish department stores, pharmacies and salons nationwide.

Emma’s So Naturals Neroli Fusion Tumbler Candle

Did you know that regular paraffin wax candles emit dangerous chemicals like Mercury and Led when burned? This is not the case with soy-based candles, and I can’t recommend a brand specialising in this field more than Emma’s So Naturals. The 100% natural and vegan candles are eco-friendly, delicately-scented with natural essential oils and are suitable for those who are prone to migraines and nausea due to strong fragrances. Emma’s So Naturals are:

  • Palm free
  • Paraben free
  • Paraffin free
  • Perfume free
  • Free from artificial dyes and synthetic fragrances
  • 100% Vegan
  • Eco-friendly and water-soluble

I’ve fallen in love with the Neroli Fusion 100ml tin candle. The candle burned for approximately 20 hours and left my living room delicately, but noticeably and beautifully scented.
