Cruelty Free Shopping Guide: Boots

EDIT JULY 2018: It has come to my attention that Boots finalised an alliance with Walgreens in 2014. Walgreens appears to stock its own brand of products, which are apparently not 100% cruelty-free. To the best of my knowledge, Boots itself is working towards achieving a Leaping Bunny certification, but I am unsure whether this will apply to the entire Walgreens Boots Alliance. It is up to the consumer whether or not they wish to purchase Boots own brands, given the company’s potential profit shares with Walgreens.

Flawless and Pawless is delighted to announce that Boots pharmacies nationwide stock a variety of cruelty-free as well as vegan cosmetic brands to suit your lifestyle and any budget.

Brands that are NOT cruelty-free at Boots pharmacies are listed in red at the end of this feature. All of these brands either test on animals themselves, or pay for third parties to test on animals on their behalf.

Flawless and Pawless is Ireland's cruelty-free cosmetic blog created by 23 year-old cosmetic expert, Ailsha Davey. With eight years working in the beauty industry in Dublin as a professional make-up artist and cosmetic expert, Ailsha discovered some of the horrors of cosmetic animal testing- and the lack of knowledge within the Irish market about it. Flawless and Pawless has been set up to spread awareness across Ireland of cosmetic animal testing, as well as to provide suggestions for cruelty-free alternatives to the Irish market's favourite cosmetic products.
