It rained, it snowed, the sun poked its bright eyes out from behind the grey clouds… March 2018 was quite the month here in Ireland! Throughout the ever-changing weather conditions, Flawless and Pawless tried out exciting cruelty-free as well as vegan products from incredible brands.
This month, these were the stand-out cruelty-free brands and their products that I tried and tested to share with you guys:
- Dr. Konopka – 100% VEGAN! – Thick Nourishing Body Soap, Restorative Hand Cream
- Elave – Sensitive Skin Defence, Lip Defence, Eye Cream, Sensitive Body Oil
- Organic Shop – 100% VEGAN! – Belgian Chocolate Body Scrub, Vanilla Creme Brulee Body Butter, Neroli Bath Salt
- Kripa Venezia – Blusher in Golden Peach, Lip Gloss and Lip Liner
- KEVIN.MURPHY – Angel Wash and Angel Rinse
- Nía – Vitality Vitamin Facial Mask
- Essence – A Million Nude Faces Eyeshadow Box, Lash Princess Mascara
- Phil Smith BEGORGEOUS – COCO-Licious Shampoo & Conditioner, Argan Cream
- The Konjac Sponge Company – 100% VEGAN! – Angel Cloth, Mini Pore Refiner
- Makeup Revolution – Iconic 3 Redemption Eyeshadow Palette
- Wet N’ Wild – Photo Finish Foundation, Creme Brulee Eyeshadow, I’m Getting Sunburned Eyeshadow Palette
… and I loved ALL OF THEM!
However, there were a couple of products that really made me fall in love:
Elave Skin Defence Face Cream and Lip Cream
Because I use so many fragrant skincare products, it’s nice to use one that is fragrance-free within my skincare regime. Elave is an Irish cruelty-free brand based in Dundalk that is free from sulphates, perfume, toxic chemicals, colour and parabens. The range is ideal for all skin types, particularly sensitive skin, and is suitable for intimate cleansing as well as baby care.
I have fallen in love with Elave’s Sensitive Daily Skin Defence cream, which has a broad spectrum of SPF45. Although the Irish weather is never particularly sunny, it’s still important to protect your skin against any UV damage which can shine through the clouds and even through windows.
The oil-free formula is infused with Zinc, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, which all work together to protect the skin against environmental damage while enriching the skin with powerful antioxidants.
Elave/Ovelle is also certified cruelty-free by PETA.
Elave Skincare Sensitive Daily Skin Defence 50ml, €22.95 and available in pharmacies nationwide.
Best Bath & Body Product
Organic Shop Belgian Chocolate Body Scrub and Vanilla Creme Brûlée Body Butter
If you want to not only delight your senses but make yourself smell like dessert, these two products are a must-have for your shower.
Organic Shop’s Belgian Chocolate Scrub is the first cruelty-free body scrub I have tried that is actually effective. The sugar-rich scrub has a honey-like consistency, disabling it from quickly rinsing away in the shower before you’ve actually had the chance to scrub your skin. This is the ultimate scrub to get your skin ready for warmer weather!
Organic Shop’s Vanilla Creme Brûlée Body Butter is the perfect complement to the Belgian Chocolate Scrub. The delicate vanilla scent stays on your skin for hours after application, and the formula is LITERALLY like butter! Only a tiny amount is needed per use, too.
All Organic Shop products are free from mineral oils, polyethylene, SLS, parabens, silicones, are certified organic by Cosmos Natural, and are 100% vegan.
Organic Shop Body Scrubs and Body Butters 250ml are all €5.50 and available at Skinfull Affairs, Exchequer Street, Co. Dublin.
KEVIN.MURPHY Angel Wash & Conditioner
A cruelty-free salon favourite, KEVIN.MURPHY hair products are a luxurious treat for tresses in distress. In March I tried the Angel Wash and Angel Rinse, and I am already hooked. Specifically designed for fine, coloured hair (ME), the formula is infused with hard-working ingredients; hydrolysed oat and wheat proteins contribute towards generous volume of the hair, sunflower seed oil protects against free radicals and environmental damage, Rose Canina Fruit Extract calms scalp inflammation with its generous dose of Vitamin C, and Sulcate-Free Surfactants and Superoxide Dismutase help to gently cleanse without removing any hair colour.
KEVIN.MURPHY is also certified cruelty-free by PETA.
KEVIN.MURPHY ANGEL.WASH SHAMPOO 250ml, €23.50, available at here.
Essence million nude faces Eyeshadow Box
Everybody loves Essence due to their insanely good quality and their budget-friendly prices. I think everybody will love Essence even more once they get their hands on this palette! Since I got the palette, I haven’t stopped using it. The pigmentation in the eyeshadows is out of this world. From mattes to shimmers to coppers to onyx, each of these eyeshadows has the same superior quality as those of high-end brands. Unfortunately, there is a slight bit of fall-out when sweeping the shadows on your brush from the palette, but the great pigmentation and easy-to-work-with texture, as well as the amazing price, make this palette an absolute must-have.
Kripa Venezia Blusher
I was introduced to the Kripa Venezia makeup range in March, and it is one of the most innovative makeup brands I have seen in a long time. The range is of professional quality but is free from everything that could possibly irritate your skin.
I have become obsessed with Kripa Venezia’s blusher in Golden Peach. The blusher restores a healthy glow in the skin, enhances green eyes and the colour is just beautiful. The blusher lasts all day long and has a tiny bit of shimmer in the formula to contribute towards a healthy sheen on the skin.
Skinfull Affairs is the sole supplier of Kripa Venezia products in both Ireland and the UK. All Kripa Venezia products are available in store in Skinfull Affairs, 34 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2.
