Cruelty-Free Products in Dealz!

Known as Poundland in the UK, Dealz is the one-stop shop for everything you need while you await your next pay cheque. With the staple €1.50 price tag on almost everything in the store, it can be easy to assume that- despite the great value- the cosmetic products that are available to purchase are neither cruelty-free nor of good quality.

This is where you have been mistaken! I was thrilled when I explored the cosmetic aisle in various Dealz stores throughout Dublin to find that a good handful of the products available are indeed cruelty-free.

Here are the most consistently distributed products in Dealz stores nationwide that are cruelty-free.

Soft and Gentle

This body care brand has been around for decades, and their vegan deodorants are just as good- if not, better- than the likes of Right Guard, Nivea and Dove. For the price of just €1.50 for their deodorants in both spray and roll-on form, here is a list of the variety of scents to choose from:

  • Lavender and Pathouli
  • Orange Blossom and Grapefruit
  • Verbena and Waterlily
  • Jasmine and Coco Milk (my FAVOURITE)
  • Wild Rose and Vanilla
  • Lotus and Watermelon
  • Orchid and Passion Flower
  • Pink Grapefruit

Soft and Gentle recently started selling their shower gels in Dealz, which have the same scents as the deodorants. What a steal!

Original Source

If you love feeling tingly and fresh in the shower, Original Source’s shower gels are the ultimate treat for you! Unlike the similarly scented Radox brand, all of the brand’s products are 100% vegan and full of only natural ingredients. The most consistent shower gels and soaps by the brand that are sold in Dealz are Mint and Tea Tree, Lemon and Tea Tree and Lemon and Chilli.

If you would like to discover the brand’s other exotic products, you can check out the full list at:

Barry M

Known for having the most pigmented products and unique colour schemes, Barry M is a cruelty-free brand that never disappoints. An array of this brand’s products are sold in the cosmetic aisle in little bags, including eyeshadow, nail polish, blusher and lip gloss. At a cost of €1.50 in Dealz, these items are only a fraction of the original cost. Replace the Rimmel, go for Barry!

Classics Nail Polish Remover

A go-to range for beauty fanatics. The brand is available in three different types in Dealz, and are gentler on the nails due to their more natural ingredients. With a large size and two different style travel-size bottles to choose from, there’s no excuse to not replace your Cutex nail varnish remover with it! They also have a nail varnish remover specifically designed to remove artificial nails.

This brand is one of Dealz staple cosmetic brands. They host an array of skincare products including face creams, rescue oil, nose strips and hand creams.

However, despite being labelled as cruelty-free, it would be wise to note their animal testing policy as it would not appeal to every consumer. Their animal testing policy states:

“Healthpoint does not commission testing of its cosmetic products on animals.
Healthpoint works with its suppliers to ensure that ingredients used in it’s cosmetics have not been tested on animals since 2009.” – You can check out the full policy here:

It is up to the consumer’s discretion if they wish to purchase products by DermaV10, but since 2009 they have been strictly cruelty-free.

Beautifully Scrumptious

Another of the staple cosmetic brands in Dealz, Beautifully Scrumptious has a variety of pampering products including lip balms, foot masks and bath bombs.

Beautifully Scrumptious is another cosmetic brand by Healthpoint, so, like DermaV10, the animal testing policy is the same and it is up to the consumer’s discretion to purchase any of their products.

With eight years working in the beauty industry in Dublin as a professional make-up artist and cosmetic expert, Ailsha discovered some of the horrors of cosmetic animal testing- and the lack of knowledge within the Irish market about it. Flawless and Pawless has been set up to spread awareness across Ireland of cosmetic animal testing, as well as to provide suggestions for cruelty-free alternatives to the Irish market's favourite cosmetic products.
