A Full Face of Cruelty-Free Makeup by Technic

One of the challenges of finding cruelty-free cosmetics is finding ones within a student’s budget. Although there are many cruelty-free cosmetic brands that are cheap as chips, people seem to believe that, because they are cheap as chips, they are not cruelty-free. I am delighted to tell you that this is not the case!

Technic is in a heap load of Ireland’s pharmacies and department stores, and although I’d never tried the products before, I’d completely underestimated them due to their crazy cheap price tag. I wondered how promising the quality of the products was, how pigmented the eyeshadows were, how durable the lipsticks were- and honestly, after trying out a full-face of makeup by Technic, the product range ticked all the boxes.

The manufacturer of Technic cosmetics is governed by the European Union Cosmetics Regulation, and the brand’s ingredients that are manufactured in non-European Union countries are strictly not tested on animals. The brand monitor all of their products and ingredients to make sure they are delivering the highest quality cosmetics, without hurting any animals or damaging the environment. Technic also has a variety of vegan products that don’t contain beeswax, lanolin or carmine.

Here are my favourite products by Technic to achieve a full-face of cruelty-free makeup.

Technic’s Matte Mineral Foundation (€4.95) is a great alternative to Rimmel London’s Stay Matte Foundation (€8.99). The foundation is highly pigmented and enriched with minerals, allowing your skin to look fresh, nourished and flawless. The formula’s matte texture stays put all day.

To set the foundation in place in order to make it extra-longlasting and to prevent creasing, it can be difficult to find a powder that guarantees no sliding. Technic’s Colour Correcting Setting Powder (€4.95) is an exciting alternative to NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder (€33.60). The soft and delicate powder camouflages any discolouration in the skin and highlights dark circles to even out the complexion. A huge bonus to this product is that it’s also vegan!

I know so many people who have raved about Technic’s Colour Fix Pressed Powder Contouring Palette (€4.95). A more versatile and variable palette to MAC’s Moons of Jupiter Face Kit (€33.84), the palette offers eight highly pigmented shades to match anyone’s needs. The shades present both matte and satin textures and complement all skin tones. Even my brother, who does drag, swears by this product! It’s also vegan.

When it comes to brows, it’s important to have a couple of shades to dabble with in order to achieve sculpted, natural-looking brows. Instead of Benefit’s Brow Zings Eyebrow Shaping Kit (€35.00), try Technic’s Ultimate Brow Kit (€2.95). Both of these products contain the same items; a light and a dark shade to fill in and sculpt the brows, a tweezers to groom, and two tiny angled brushes to neaten. The only difference is that Technic’s Ultimate Brow Kit contains a large mirror, an extra powder shade and a wax to make sure your brows stay in place all day!

If you are looking for the ultimate low-budget eyeshadow palette that will take you through dawn ’til dusk, I’d recommend trying Technic’s Mega Nudes 12 Colour Eyeshadow Palette (€2.95). The twelve shades mirror the likes of Maybelline’s The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette (€14.45), except Mega Nudes by Technic is cruelty-free and vegan! The shades range from vanilla to warm and cool tones of brown to smokey black. The eyeshadows offer a variety of both matte and satin textures.

Whether you struggle to achieve a wing or you’re a pro MUA, Technic’s Skinny Liquid Liner (€5.95) is a win-win. A cruelty-free alternative to L’Oreal’s Super Liner Perfect Slim (€8.39), this jet-black and durable eyeliner helps one to achieve the skinniest and most accurate winged eyeliner in a matter of seconds. The pen-like structure is easy to use for everyone, and you can have faith in knowing that this product is vegan.

Long, curled eyelashes are the result of using Technic’s Mega Lash Water Resistant Mascara (€3.95). An alternative to Lancome’s Hypnose Waterproof Mascara (€31.00), this mascara lengthens, separates and curls the lashes, and it is guaranteed to stay put all day long. Having very watery eyes and a tendency to burst into tears while laughing, finding a totally water resistant mascara has been difficult- but I am so impressed with this one. The mascara is vegan.

For a voluptuous, matte pout, try Technic’s Colour Max Matte Lipstick (€2.95). Similar to Tom Ford’s Matte Lip Colour (€44.83), the formula is highly pigmented, nourishing and long-wearing, but it is cruelty-free. The soft and moisturising lippy is available in six shades.

Flawless and Pawless is Ireland's cruelty-free cosmetic blog created by 23 year-old cosmetic expert, Ailsha Davey. With eight years working in the beauty industry in Dublin as a professional make-up artist and cosmetic expert, Ailsha discovered some of the horrors of cosmetic animal testing- and the lack of knowledge within the Irish market about it. Flawless and Pawless has been set up to spread awareness across Ireland of cosmetic animal testing, as well as to provide suggestions for cruelty-free alternatives to the Irish market's favourite cosmetic products.
